Responding to inspections

Once inspection are completed and you have received the inspection report, its time to respond to the selling side. This steps opens another round of negotiations with the seller. Lets say the inspection report discovers that 3 of the home's outlets were not working, the furnace needs to be serviced and  the AC wouldn't turn on. You could ask the seller to correct all issues, ask for a credit at closing in lieu of repairs, or a price reduction. However, this step shouldn't be a way to try and take advantage of the seller by asking for too much. Keep in mind the seller doesn't have to fix or credit anything. If they wanted to they could tell you they're not fixing anything. Normally the buyer and seller can both work out a fair situation that works for everyone.
